My Ebay catastrophe

Let me tell you about my $150 Ebay mistake....I was browsing through one of my favourite Bridal magazines, Wedding Luxe, and saw a beautiful picture of a table setting that featured these delicious little crystal brooches pinned to the tablecloths. When I saw this picture, I just knew I needed to add these little sparklers to my tables...after all, it's the little details and touches that make a wedding special right??? (This is what I tell myself in my head as I fixate on these non-important details).
So like the good Fiance he is, Ryan accompanied me to Michael's to accomplish "Mission Brooches". Of course, there were NONE I liked. I have to say that I have been quite disappointed with Michael's during this whole process...I don't find they have a great selection and the stuff there isn't the best quality. We have vowed and much to my great delight, to NEVER step foot in a Michael's again however we keep ending up there somehow!!! Eeek!
My sister had a wonderful idea to try Ebay....so one night Ryan, Chrissy and I were perusing on the site and I found the exact one's from the magazine. They were a little over budget so we decided to "Make him an offer"....what we didn't realize is that if you make an offer and the seller accepts then the deal is done!!! I got them for the price I wanted, however I did not realize that the jerk wanted $9.99 PER BROOCH for shipping!!!!!!! We contacted the seller and the most he would come down was $50 for shipping, which is still OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

So, moral of the story....BE CAREFUL what you click, on EBAY!!!!!

Also, please take a minute when you are at our wedding to actually appreciate these little brooches!!!! They were a HUGE headache!!!! It will make me feel better if you at least notice them! Thank you!

Empire State of Mind

I have some exciting news....Ryan and I have decided to go to New York to get my dress altered and bring it home with us!!! We are also bringing along Miss Madison for the road trip!!! Yay!

It was actually quite a stressful decision! Kleinfelds has a 3 day alterations policy so Sarah calls Kleinfelds and naively says, "I'd like to book a 3 days altering appointment please because I'll be in New York in March for my March Break."
Kleinfelds, "OK no problem, but in order to do it 3 days in a row there is an extra fee of $400 on top of your $500 alteration fee."
Me, "WHAAAAAT????!!!!". Sniff

To make a long story short(er), after hyperventilating and some tears, I called back, spoke to SEVERAL different people but finally got in touch with a manager who was amazing and she had them agree to let me do a two day fitting and then releasing my dress to me for no extra cost. They usually want the 3 days to ensure their work because they are so picky but there is not much to be done so I am confident that they can do it. I only need it shortened and made tighter in the waist. Kleinfelds literally has the top seamstresses in the country so I'm told, so I know it will be all good!

NYC here we come!!!

I will be packing my little black dress of course

In New York,
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can’t do,
Now you’re in New York,
These streets will make you feel brand new,
The lights will inspire you,
Lets here it for New York, New York, New York

(Thank you Mr.Jay Z, this song sums it up perfectly!)
